Jason Thor

A California native, Jason earned degrees in trombone performance from the University of Northern Colorado and the Eastman School of Music before making his way to Los Angeles in 2000. After a 6-year tenure as lead trombone with the Brian Setzer Orchestra, he has enjoyed a busy freelance career in L.A. and beyond, performing and recording with a wide variety of artists and ensembles. He has appeared on over 50 albums (including several Grammy winners and nominees); TV shows such as Dancing With The Stars, America’s Got Talent, and just about every talk show with a music segment; and in concert with artists such as Peter Gabriel, Andrea Bocelli, Poncho Sanchez, and Christina Aguilera. He has performed at major venues throughout the US, from the Hollywood Bowl to the White House, as well as countless shows and festivals in over 30 countries around the world. In addition to appearances with the Big Phat Band and numerous other L.A. groups of all genres, Jason is currently lead trombone with John Tesh, and has been a featured member of the acclaimed daKAH Hip Hop Orchestra for over 11 years.
